Graeme Butchart began his career in advertising as an Art Director in the international agency world and moved quickly up the ranks to become an award winning Creative Director, working in both his own advertising agency and the top local advertising agencies. His work won London International, New York, Clio and Lorie Awards for his creative ideas and cutting edge thinking.
It was during the 1990's that Graeme began working with State owned Enterprises, and was responsible for changing the image and positioning of such organisations as Eskom, SABC, SAA and Telkom. His work led him to work and develop many young black creative people and he was instrumental in establishing the 'Abekwetha Programme' at this time.
|
With the new millennium Graeme took a bold step and left the world of advertising to spend more time training and mentoring talent, firstly in the marketing and communications industry, and then later in the broader field of business. He has worked as a lecturer at the AAA School of Advertising and Vega Brand School and delivered courses and lectures for the Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) and various Business Schools throughout South Africa around the topic of the importance of innovation and creativity in the business environment. His exposure led to a one year contract for Leo Burnett in Lagos Nigeria, where his training and development skills were tested with much success.
In the past few years, Graeme has been a sought after facilitator and speaker for a number of high profile clients and symposiums, working in both the public and private sector.
In between speaking and conference engagements, Graeme is a trained mentor and works one-on-one with a number of business people in achieving their goals through enhanced creative thinking and communication and is currently writing a book on the subject of creativity in life and at work.
Graeme is a member of the PSASA (Professional Speakers Association of South Africa).
